Because information is an important part of our business, we understand how important it is to you to know what will happen to any personal information you give us. The following privacy statement applies to Fairfax County Federal Credit Union and/or our partnership with UniTrust Financial Services, LLC.

Your Privacy Is Important To Us

We are committed to providing our clients with the finest products backed by consistently top-quality service. And while information is fundamental to our ability to do this, we fully recognize the importance of keeping your personal and account information secure.

In the course of providing services to you, we collect information about you. Some of this information is non-public personal information. We do not sell your non-public personal information but we share some of the non-public personal information with our service providers and others in order to better serve you. We share your non-public personal public information only with contractual safeguards to protect the confidentiality of your information. The purpose of this notice is to inform you of our Privacy Policy and to give you an opportunity to let us know if you do not want your information disclosed to other parties that assist us in providing valuable products and services to you.

Information We Collect About You and Disclose to Others

We collect information about you from the following sources:

Information we receive from you on applications and other forms (for example, name, address, social security number, assets, and income);

Information about your transactions with us, our affiliate or others including those companies that work closely with us to provide you with diverse financial products and services (for example, your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions and credit card usage);

Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or other forms (this may be obtained from your current or past employers, or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions); and

Information we may obtain from consumer purchasing and census data providers to develop competitive marketing programs for our members.

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, as permitted by law.

We make every effort to keep our files complete, up-to-date and accurate. We regularly tell our clients how and where to access their account information to verify its accuracy. When notified of an error, we promptly make a correction.

Parties Who Receive Information from Us

As affiliates, Fairfax County Federal Credit Union and UniTrust Financial Services share your non-public personal information. In addition, we may disclose non-public personal information about you to the following types of third parties:

Financial service providers, such as those that provide securities and insurance; and non-financial companies, such as those that provide market research information.

In order that we may provide members competitive products and services, we may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf and to other financial service providers with whom we have joint marketing agreements. We may also disclose information about you under circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct our operations and follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records.

If you decide to terminate your relationship with us, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.

How to Opt-Out or Stop Certain Disclosures About You

If you prefer that we do not disclose non-public personal information about you to non-affiliated third parties, you may opt-out of those disclosures, that is, you may direct us not to make those disclosures (other than disclosures permitted by law). This "opt-out" will not apply to disclosures that are permitted by law and will not apply to disclosures to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial service providers with whom we have joint marketing agreements. You may opt-out of these disclosures or revoke your opt-out election at any time. If you wish to opt-out of disclosures to non-affiliated third parties, you may select one of the following methods to exercise this right:

Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure

The Fair Credit Reporting Act governs the sharing of information that may impact upon you for purposes involving credit, collections, employment, insurance, and other purposes set forth in Section 604 of the Act. We learn information about you from our experience with you and from information provided by others, such as through credit reports. The Fair Credit Reporting Act permits us to share with our affiliates and credit reporting agencies information we learn from our experience with you. We may also share information provided by others but will not share this information if you direct us otherwise. You may direct us not to share the information provided by others by exercising your opt-out election in the same manner as set forth above. In the opt-out election, you will have the option of including or excluding the Credit Union from your opt-out election.

How We Protect Your Information

We recognize how important it is that sensitive information about you remains confidential. We go to great lengths to safeguard the personal financial information you entrust to us.

We protect your personal information from unauthorized access, using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, to ensure that account information remains secure.

We actively seek to verify the identity of our clients before assisting them.

We take vigilant fraud protection measures (including keeping clients social security and/or Tax ID numbers in the strictest of confidence) in order to protect our clients.

We restrict access to information about you to only those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. Employees who violate our confidentiality policies are subject to disciplinary action.

References to "we", "us" and "our" refer to Fairfax County Federal Credit Union and UniTrust Financial Services. References to "you" shall mean the clients of Fairfax County Federal Credit Union. References to "Credit Union" shall mean the following credit unions: Arlington Virginia FCU, Arlington, VA; Commonwealth One FCU, Alexandria, VA; Fort Belvoir FCU, Woodbridge, VA; Genesis FCU, Springfield, VA; and Transportation FCU, Alexandria, VA. UniTrust Financial Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary and an affiliate of these credit unions.
